Toyota Family Learning Grant $175,000

The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) is accepting applications for Toyota Family Learning, a nationwide initiative led by NCFL and funded by Toyota. The deadline to apply is June 11, 2015.

NCFL will award five (5) organizations a three-year, $175,000 grant, and provide training and communications support to implement services that engage families in learning together, mentoring each other, and implementing service learning projects. Eligible Toyota Family Learning sites will address our nation’s critical educational needs in innovative ways, including leveraging the power of technology to reach families beyond the classroom. NCFL requests applications that will adapt existing family engagement programs, including adult education where applicable, to implement the following:

  • Parent and Child Together (PACT) Time® — activities which are defined in federal legislation as interactive literacy activities between parents and children;
  • Parent Time — activities which are defined in federal legislation as training for parents regarding how to be the primary teacher for their children and full partners in the education of their children;
  • Families mentoring other families to learn together and participate — via online and offline activities; and
  • Family Service Learning — through NCFL’s defined Family Service Learning process and the sharing of those projects, activities, and experiences on www.familytimemachine.com as appropriate.
