Laurie Collins is a 2014 Mass Literacy Champion and the author of The Pajamas of My Dreams, an inspiring children’s book about children going to sleep and dreaming of their futures, illustrated by Margie Florini. The book earned a bronze medal in the Moon Beam Children’s Book awards.
Laurie has worked as a children’s librarian in Massachusetts for 15 years, previously at the Newbury Town Library and currently at the Ipswich Public Library. She frequently collaborates with Massachusetts Libraries, the Boston Bruins and Cradles to Crayons to run pajama drives and literacy events for children and families. She is trained in Mother Goose on the Loose early literacy programs for infants through 2-year-olds and their caregivers.
Laurie is a graduate of Salem State College with a BA in English and minor in Business. She is a former correspondent for the Newburyport Daily News. Laurie has been married for 33 years to Tommy Collins and is a mother of two sons, Christopher and Benjamin Collins. She is a proud owner of a rescue dog, Finnegan, and rescue cat, Mulligan.
Laurie recently completed a Literacy Scavenger Hunt for children and families who attended the 2014 Topsfield Fair.
